"Medical Assistant - Berkeley Outpatient Center"

UCSF's Berkeley Outpatient Center is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant III to support patient care in a fast-paced specialty clinic setting. This is a full-time, 3-month temporary assignment through UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) -- with the opportunity to gain experience at one of the nation's top academic health systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Room patients, obtain vitals (height/weight/BP), perform EKGs, assist with exams and procedures, and support emergency response.
• Perform medication reconciliation and review health maintenance; assist with specimen collection and simple point-of-care testing.
• Prepare and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms and specialty equipment (scope handling training provided).
• Support front-desk tasks as needed: scheduling in CADENCE, registration checks, insurance verification, and message triage.
• Document accurately in EPIC/APeX and communicate effectively with providers and team members.
• Assist with prior authorizations and pharmacy communications when needed.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement and complete required competency testing.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
