Medical Education Data Analyst
Reporting to the Director of Assessment and Evaluation Services in the Office of Assessment and Quality Improvement, the Medical Education Data Analyst supports learner assessments, program evaluation, and other activities for assessment, quality improvement, and accreditation at the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta College of Medicine. This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing data to provide evidence regarding the educational effectiveness in the College of Medicine.
Job Duties:
- Works with the Director of Assessment and Evaluation Services to develop, implement and administer, assessment and evaluation instruments.
- Works in partnership with the Director of Assessment and Evaluation Services to analyze and report the data collected.
- Collaborates with members of the Office of Assessment and Quality Improvement to manage the review of learner assessments and the analysis of assessment results.
- Provides instruction and technical assistance to faculty in the use of assessment resources.
- Collects, surveys, and reports on learner assessments highlighting any areas that need additional review.
- Reports outcomes of learner assessments to the appropriate administrators, faculty, and committees.
- Ensures the distribution and collection of program evaluation instruments (PEIs) including course, clerkship, and elective evaluations, evaluations of faculty, evaluations of learners, educational program surveys, alumni surveys, and other surveys for the Office.
- Provides instruction and technical assistance to faculty, staff, students, and other appropriate individuals on the use of PEIs.
- Reviews data from PEIs to ensure completeness, appropriateness of narrative comments, and other potential deficiencies in the data from PEIs.
- Reports and assists in mitigation of deficits identified in PEIs.
- Compiles preliminary reports, including visualization of the collected data from PEIs.
- Compiles standardized reports based on learner assessment and PEI data for reporting to external agencies.
- Assists in the curriculum and assessment mapping process.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
Master’s degree in education (e.g., curriculum and instruction, learning and design, higher education, measurement and quantitative methods) or a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with educational data required.
Experience:
- Requires experience with legally protected data (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
- Requires high level of knowledge and experience with Excel and statistical packages such as SPSS, R, or SAS.
- Data management and data visualization experience preferred.
- PowerBI experience preferred.
