Job Description

Medical Informatics Administrator

University Health Services provides comprehensive, student-centered medical care and public health support that foster wellness, prevention, and a healthy campus community. To advance these efforts, the Medical Informatics Administrator supports the operational and technical functions of University Health Services by managing the department's electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring immunization compliance, and driving technology-enabled care. This individual collaborates with Information Technology Services, external EHR vendors, and public health partners to enhance efficiency, data integrity, and system reliability.

In this role, the Medical Informatics Administrator ensures that technology systems operate effectively, compliance standards are upheld, and data systems are optimized to strengthen care delivery and public health response. The position also contributes to departmental planning, data analytics, website management, and digital communications, while assisting with healthcare emergency management and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the cloud-based EHR system, ensuring functionality, data accuracy, and compliance with state and university requirements.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate upgrades, and train staff on EHR processes and downtime protocols.
  • Oversee immunization compliance tracking and reporting, including coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
  • Support data analysis, dashboard reporting, and quality assurance initiatives to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and leadership team on daily operations, communications, and technology-driven solutions.
  • Maintain and update departmental websites and social media platforms to support communication and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in healthcare emergency management, public health reporting, and data entry into national and state databases as needed.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, assessment, and onboarding initiatives to strengthen overall service delivery.

Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $65,550 to $81,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pre-Med, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) as a systems administrator.
  • Experience in public health, emergency management, or healthcare operations.
  • Background in database management, public health surveillance, or disease reporting.
  • Strong project and program management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and effectively communicate with students, faculty and staff.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with database management, public health reporting systems, and web or social media management tools.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
