Located in downtown Toronto... invites applications for two full-time career stream positions of Medical Librarian at the rank of Librarian I or II, effective as soon as possible, subject to final budgetary approval.
The Opportunity TMU Libraries seeks highly motivated and creative Medical Librarians... Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, working closely with the Head Librarian at the Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library... The Medical Librarians will work as a team sharing responsibility for supporting Undergraduate Medical and Postgraduate Medical Learners, clinical faculty and staff... provide expertise including discipline-specific reference, research consultation, and library instruction. The position also includes responsibility for collection development... All Medical Librarians... will have assigned committees... support the development and delivery of integrated and customized instructional programs... support clinical faculty in their work in the area of medical research...
Librarians actively contribute to providing research assistance through both in-person and virtual service points, and may occasionally be required to work non-standard hours, including weekends and evenings.
As Career Librarians, the incumbents contribute to the Libraries and the University through active participation... engage in professional development and/or scholarly, research and creative activities...
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited library school with a MLS/MLIS/MISt degree... In addition, the candidate must present evidence of the following:
- 2 - 4 years experience working in a health sciences library environment...
- Knowledge and proficiency using health sciences resources...
- Demonstrate broad understanding of issues in medical education...
- Relationship building skills...
- Knowledge of emerging developments/trends...
- Capacity to thrive in an environment of rapid development...
- Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving...
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion...
- Commitment to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report...
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Candidates possessing the following will be preferred:
- Ability to answer questions on open access publishing...

- Experience teaching or supporting evidence-based medicine...
The location of work for this position will be the TMU Brampton Campus.
Librarian I - The salary range for this position is $78,586.69 to $116,905.82 per annum...
Librarian II - The salary range for this position is $87,679.38 to $183,152.46 per annum...
