Medical Radiology Tutor

Position Summary

The Medical Radiology Tutor (SPACE Center) provides tutoring and study support services for all courses in the AAS and Certificate Medical Radiologic Technology Program, throughout the 5 semesters of the MRT Program and Based on Grant Funding. Tutoring may be conducted in person, virtually via Zoom and through Blackboard. Additional tutoring may be provided at LSCC designated x-ray laboratories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides academic assistance to the assigned student, either in a group or individual setting
• Assists students in achieving a better understanding of a specific subject area and with improving academic capabilities in designated areas
• Attends periodic training or orientation sessions as required by the faculty or director
• Provides evaluations and other reports as requested
• Documents student progress
• Assists students with the development of study skills necessary for academic success
• Helps foster positive attitudes toward learning and studying
• Motivates and supports students’ achievement and success
• Establishes and maintains rapport with the assigned student(s)
• Serves as a role model for students receiving services
• Fosters an inclusive learning environment
• Ensures successful performance, retention, and graduation Radiologic Tech students
• Monitors academic progress and contact faculty and staff throughout the semester as necessary to assist students
• Upholds professional ethical standards that do not breach confidentiality and student relationships
• Maintains an appropriate work schedule to accommodate participants
• Provides data to the Director when requested and in accordance with program requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING: Associate’s degree or higher required with current credentials in Radiography with the ARRT.

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS: Credentials in Radiography with the ARRT
