Medical Statistician

This is an exciting opportunity for a Medical Statistician with knowledge and/or experience of analysing clinical trials to further develop their statistical and clinical trials expertise.

The postholder will be working within an internationally recognised, multi-disciplinary research unit where multi-centre trials are conducted to the highest standard. This post is a result of capacity building in the NPEU CTU reflecting a healthy portfolio and an anticipated growth in the number of trials being conducted by the CTU in the near future.

The post holder will be required to ensure robust statistical input into all aspects of clinical trials adopted by the NPEU CTU from design to analysis and dissemination. There will also be opportunities for the post holder to be involved in various teaching courses run by the Department, as well as undertaking methodological research.

For Grade 6 applicants- The post is ideal for a new or recent graduate from a relevant MSc. with a keen interest in medical statistics, highly effective communication skills (written and verbal) and meticulous attention to detail.

You should hold a postgraduate qualification in statistics, epidemiology, or clinical trials, with significant focus on medical statistics or clinical trials methodology. You should be knowledgeable and experienced in designing, conducting, analysing, interpreting, and reporting randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

For Grade 7 applicants, you must also be fluent in trial design and skilled in statistical techniques relevant to RCTs.

Clear communication of statistical information in simple terms is essential alongside the ability to solve complex problems and be proficient in at least one statistical software such as STATA, R, or SAS. You must be capable of working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Managing multiple projects, prioritising goals, and meeting deadlines are important, as is working methodically with attention to detail and accuracy. An appropriate level of proficiency in spoken and written English is also essential.
