Medical Technologist I - Clinical Pathology
The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Medical Technologist to join the Clinical Pathology team at the Animal Health Diagnostic Center. The Medical Technologist I reports to the lab manager and performs comprehensive, routine clinical pathology diagnostic testing on veterinary specimens. Key testing areas include Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis. This role adheres to AAVLD standards and follows organizational and unit policies and procedures. Additionally, the position involves basic troubleshooting of testing issues and requires a collaborative, supportive team approach to effectively meet service goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related biological science discipline with up to two years of laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of diagnostic testing and quality system compliance.
- Excellent time management and an ability to successfully manage competing priorities.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at workstations and instrumentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.

- Experience performing clinical pathology testing.
Important Details about the Position
- This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
- This is a full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance.
- We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
- Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
- This position is 39 hours per week. While normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, specific schedules may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, University holidays and scheduled breaks.

The Clinical Pathology laboratory provides timely, comprehensive, and accurate laboratory testing of animal specimens in the areas of hematology, diagnostic cytology, clinical chemistry and immunology, and urinalysis. We provide diagnostic testing and professional consultation services to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, to researchers affiliated with Cornell University and to private veterinary practitioners and researchers throughout New York, the USA, and worldwide.
