Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner (holding current professional registration in a mental health-related field) to work within our Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.

Working in partnership with other teams and colleagues within the department of Student Support & Safeguarding, you’ll be working directly with students to provide professional 1-1 assessments and support appointments to enable students to thrive, as individuals, throughout their journey to, through and beyond the University of Bath.

About the role

The Department of Student Support & Safeguarding is a lively and committed team of interconnected services who are working to support and enhance the student experience and are developing sector-leading practices to support both student and staff development. The Mental Health & Wellbeing Service works in close connection with colleagues in our Therapeutic, Disability, Money Advice and Student Retention & Success services to create a holistic response to student needs, and to share our learning experiences across a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals.

We are looking for an experienced and creative registered Mental Health & Wellbeing Professional who can provide structured interventions and support planning for the students who need Mental Health and Wellbeing Support during their time at university. Someone who can work effectively to assess and manage presenting risks to our students, work in close liaison with other services (internal and external) to manage student need and respond proportionately.

You will need to have strong clinical skills in assessing needs and risks, ability to engage with students to enable effective support and safety planning, a good understanding of student mental health and the demands of university life, and excellent time management skills to manage a varied caseload.

Further information

This is a permanent, part-time role, working 29.5 hours per week (0.808 fte). The role is primarily based in our Claverton Down (Bath) campus, working Monday - Friday.

All Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioners will also contribute to an on-campus Duty Service to respond to incoming/urgent student situations.

A Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) check will be required for this post.
