This position will work as a participating team member in the integrated care model of the UCCS Wellness Center that includes physical health, mental health, nutrition and wellness promotion in collaboration with Campus Recreation. This position will assist in the implementation of wellness promotion programs grounded in an integrated and holistic approach to health and wellbeing with a focus on mental health, emotional wellbeing, and skill-building, while also contributing to broader wellness topics as needed.
Essential Functions
Wellness promotion (50%)
- Collaborates within and across disciplines and departments to plan and execute wellbeing initiatives, programs and events.
- Provides resources and trains faculty, staff and students on resiliency, belonging and mindfulness practices and partners with faculty to implement practices into classroom curriculum.
- Works with a team of students and professionals to develop promotional and educational program materials, and at times may create marketing, and social media posts.
- Creates and administers assessment measures for wellness promotion programs and ensures program specific data is collected from Wellness Promotion events.
- Creates, schedules, and delivers interactive trainings, workshops, and classroom presentations on a variety of mental health and wellbeing topics in collaboration with other campus partners.
- Serves as a speaker/consultant on mental health and emotional wellbeing topics, and provides support on additional wellness areas (e.g., sleep, stress management, physical activity, substance use) as needed.
- Leads the promotion, visibility, and campus-wide engagement for the Skills for Optimizing Student Success (SOS) program, serving as the primary point.
Non-clinical case management services (50%)
- Provides ongoing Skills for Optimizing Student Success (SOS) individual meetings, group sessions, presentations and campuswide education.
- Collaborates closely with the Dean of Student's Office within the scope of case management duties.
- Attends all Student Support meetings through the CARE team to connect students with on- and off-campus resources.
- Attend the CARE team meeting, as needed, when the Lead Case Manager is unable to attend to help determine if students on CARE team would benefit from the case manager's support.
- Attend to referrals from Wellness Center staff to research, find, and connect the best resources that are accessible for our students.
- Taking self-referrals from UCCS staff and faculty and then determining the needs of the community members and connecting them with the appropriate resources and services in the community.
- Carrying out needs assessments for each individual case so that an appropriate level of care is determined and planned.
- If there is a need, helping students practice emotion regulation skills, basic assertiveness, and other interpersonal skills to be able to improve accessibility of resources.
- Once the referrals are made, following up with each case to make sure the needs are met.
