compliance with infection control in the food preparation/serve area in a child residential treatment setting and peer consultation/leadership in a residential milieu setting. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Implements recreational and therapeutic activities and trips appropriate to the children's age, abilities, and therapeutic needs. Monitors children 24 hours a day, including overnight visual checks. Intervenes effectively to maintain safety and security for children in crisis by using both verbal and physical crisis intervention strategies. Provides CPI training and oversight of CPI interventions used with youth (ages 5-11 years) in a therapeutic milieu. Provides collaborative oversight of Infections Control policy specific to food preparation area. Documents all unit activities in unit and communication logs. Minimum Education and Experience: Four (4) years of relevant full-time paid experience (part time and/or per diem experience may be substituted for the full-time equivalent) or a bachelor's degree in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field. City: Piscataway State: NJ Physical Demands and Work Environment: PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Occasional time spent driving to designated facilities to interview clients and meet staff. Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds). Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting. Lifts supplies/equipment/charts. Sitting while interviewing clients; may sit up to several hours in one place. Frequent use of telephone for crisis calls. WORK ENVIRONMENT : Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crises, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that requires use of personal protective equipment.
