Mental Health Therapist
Position Overview
Starting Salary Range is $63,273.60 - $66,501. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.
This position provides confidential, short-term therapeutic services to aid students in coping with obstacles such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and other issues that might otherwise interfere with their educational and personal development. This position assists in the development and implementation of education and prevention programming around issues of health and well-being in order to create campus-wide awareness and actively participates in the CARES Team process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct short-term, brief individual and group therapeutic sessions with current students (age 18 or older) in-person or virtually.
- Participate in and attend all meetings of the CARES Core Team as a collaborator and resource.
- Coordinate education and prevention activities focused on mental health and wellbeing promotion for community college students.
- Develop collaborative relationships with community agencies and resources to better connect students with community referrals.
- Respond to campus crises as needed.
- Utilize case management and therapy software to respond to referrals, communicate with students, and store student records.
- Collaborate with other student well-being initiatives to promote the utilization of TimelyCare.
- Maintain confidential records following ethical standards as required by license.
- Provide consultation and support to the campus regarding mental health issues.
- Within ethical standards, provide reports regarding student issues and utilization of services.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves on campus committees as appropriate.
- Provide confidential support for students reporting Title IX violations on campus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Master's (or higher) degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Current license from the Texas State Board of Examiners such as Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
- Two (2) years of counseling related experience in a mental health setting.
- Knowledge of psychological crisis intervention and management strategies.
- Experience in managing mental health awareness and prevention education.
