About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Methods Advisor to join the QMUL arm of the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) Hub delivered by Imperial College London and Partners (QMUL, UCL and King’s College London). NIHR RSS Hubs support researchers at all levels of experience, at the grant application stage and beyond, to help them plan high-quality research to improve health and social care.

About You

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience, and experience of health or social care research, including writing funding proposals and applying for grants. They will have knowledge of the UK funding landscape for health and social care research, and should be an enthusiastic communicator of the value of sound research methods (both qualitative and quantitative).

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to more than 450 staff, 100 PhD students and c500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.

The post-holder will work in the Centre for Evaluation and Methods (CEM). CEM is a thriving centre that incorporates collaborative units who work to deliver outstanding research based on their combined and complementary strengths. The Centre comprises four units, including two UKCRC registered clinical trials units (CTUs): Barts CTU and the Pragmatic CTU; the Methodology Research Unit; and the Health Economics and Policy Research Unit. The post-holder will contribute to the work of the Methodology Research Unit, where expertise in a wide range of disciplinary areas comes together to enable outstanding research. There will also be opportunities to link with staff across the RSS Hub partner institutions.
