MFA Graduate Assistant, Inkwell
Department: MFA Program / Academic Writing program
Reports to: Program Director
Effective Date: Fall 2026
The main responsibility of the position is to serve as a managing editor or co-managing editor of Inkwell, the MFA Program's literary magazine. This role involves managing all aspects of the magazine including, but not limited to:
- Managing submissions
- Soliciting submissions from established writers
- Making editorial decisions
- Interacting with accepted authors
- Collating the issue for copy-editing
- Copy-editing the issue
- Assisting in the design of the issue
Required:
- Enrolled in the MFA Creative Writing graduate program at Manhattanville
- Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
- Previous experience working on a literary publication is preferred but not required
Compensation: This position offers a 3-credit of tuition waiver to be used for classes in the MFA in Creative Writing Program for the fall and spring semester (6-credits in total).
Hours Expectation: Part-time, 29 hours or less per week
Housing: Housing is not provided.
Benefits: Graduate Assistants are not eligible for benefits.
