Microbiome Cluster Hire
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for a cluster hire focused on advancing understanding of microbiomes. The positions are a tenured Associate or Full Endowed Professor working on microbiome-microbiome interactions (https://apply.interfolio.com/174930); and two tenure-track assistant professor positions focused on host-microbiome interactions (https://apply.interfolio.com/174540) and plant microbiomes (https://apply.interfolio.com/174588). Review of applications will begin on 30 October for assistant professor positions and on 15 November for the endowed chair.
We are seeking innovative and creative scholars who will establish discipline-leading, student-involved, and externally funded research programs focused on the microbiome. The ideal candidates will conduct high-quality research in a wide variety of microbiome systems. The candidates should complement one or more of the four synergistic research themes of the SBS (Biological Foundations of One Health, Behavior from Molecules to Ecosystems, Mechanisms of Biodiversity, and Ecology of a Changing Planet) and demonstrate a strong potential for creating cross-disciplinary collaborations across the SBS, the Norman and Health campuses, and nationally and internationally.
The research programs should include mentoring of postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduates in research and professional development. The candidates will also be expected to contribute to formal undergraduate and graduate instruction in the form of one course per semester within the SBS microbiology curriculum (or plant biology curriculum, for the plant microbiome candidate), as well as newly developed courses within their specific area of expertise.
The SBS is growing its faculty, research impact, and graduate programs in alignment with the OU Norman Research Strategic Verticals and Lead On Strategic Plan.
