The Drexel Way:

We don’t just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we’ve been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you’re an owner.

The Mission:

The Millwork Buyer is the primary driver of supply chain speed, product availability, and inventory precision for our doors, moulding, trim, and custom millwork product lines. You don't just fill purchase orders; you dominate the matrix—balancing daily tactical purchasing with market trend analysis (from lumber indexes to lead times) to ensure our inventory is perfectly tuned to builder and contractor demand. You crush logistics bottlenecks, navigate extended vendor lead times, and continuously optimize procurement processes to ensure the Drexel team never misses a frame, a trim package, or a job site delivery.

Defining the Role:
  • Execute Daily Tactical Buying: Manage daily purchasing of interior/exterior doors, mouldings, trim, stair components, and architectural millwork hardware.
  • Maintain Precision Inventory: Monitor stock levels for fast-turning commodity items alongside special custom-order components to meet customer and project timelines seamlessly.
  • Ensure Inventory Integrity: Communicate daily with inventory management and warehouse teams to track incoming shipments, verify specs, correct inaccuracies, and maintain stock precision.
  • Cultivate Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with door manufacturers, millwork distributors, and hardware vendors.
  • Resolve Lead Time & Quality Issues: Proactively investigate and resolve vendor backorders, shipping delays, and quality discrepancies to ensure zero job site downtime.
  • Market Trend Analysis: Continuously track wood commodity indexes, vendor price adjustments, and lead time changes to make proactive, cost-effective buying decisions.
  • Process & Workflow Improvement: Continuously refine purchasing workflows, inventory turns, and delivery coordination across the entire doors and millwork product line.
What Success Looks Like:
  • Inventory Accuracy & Turns: High inventory precision, optimal stock turn rates, and minimal obsolete/dead stock across millwork SKUs.
  • Order Fulfillment & In-Stock Rate: Percentage of job-site doors and millwork packages fulfilled on time without stockout delays.
  • Vendor Lead Time & Resolution Speed: Proactive mitigation of vendor delays, prompt resolution of backorders, and vendor error rate reduction.
  • Cost Management & Margin Growth: Favorable buying variations, effective margin protection through commodity monitoring, and operational cost savings.
The Drexel Advantage:

The Wealth-Builder (Ownership)

  • ESOP Shares: We don’t just work here; we own the place. You’ll earn a real stake in the company’s success.
  • Profit Sharing: When Drexel wins, our team wins.
  • 401k: A solid foundation for your long-term retirement goals.

Health & Well-Being

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance to keep you and your family "weather-proof."
  • Fitness Reimbursements: Annual funds dedicated to your physical health and family activities.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support when life gets complex.

Life & Legacy

  • Immediate Paid Time Off: Start with Holiday and Vacation pay from day one.
  • Scholarship Program: We’re invested in the next generation—educational support for the children of our team members.
  • Annual Charity Match: We’ll double your impact on the causes you care about most.

  • Birthday PTO: A paid day off to celebrate you.
  • Product Discounts: Special pricing on the high-quality materials we sell.
