MA in TESOL or a closely related field in hand by time of
appointment
At least one semester of ESL teaching at the college or
university level
Evidence of an excellent teaching record
Superior communication skills in English
PREFERRED:
- Significant experience teaching ESL at the college or
university level
- Successful completion of an ESL practicum course (with
documentation)
- Experience mentoring new ESL teachers in one’s own
classroom
- Experience teaching diverse groups of students in a variety of
settings
- Experience integrating technology into language teaching

Pay and Benefits
Standard Teaching Compensation
For adjunct instructors who have already taught fewer than 72
semester credits (or the credit
equivalent) post-M.A. at MELP the rate is $1,485.00 per credit
equivalent (includes
preparation).
For adjunct instructors who have already taught 72 semester credits
or more (or the credit
equivalent) post-M.A. at MELP the rate is $1,535.00 per credit
equivalent (includes
preparation).
Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty,
Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp
Casual classifications.
