Job Description: Professionals in this position include recruiting students to the new SE program (based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area), lead on-campus activities while students are taking part in the one-semester Academy, mentor and facilitate the professional and technical development of students while they are on-campus and on co-op placement, and recruit and liaison with a global set of industry partners who employ the co-op students. This position supports the launch and continued support of our new, innovative work-based learning model in software engineering. After completing two years of core studies either at MSU Mankato or another institution, students compete for a position in our upper-division SE program. The upper division experience starts with a one-semester residential Academy that takes place in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, during which students are prepared for four semesters of work in industry by learning skills for self-directed learning and finding a co-op placement. Students then move on to four semesters of working at a paid co-op position in industry combined with virtual/distance study with our faculty. The work-based SE curriculum combines technical software engineering training with the professional skills development necessary to succeed in a STEM career. The position reports to the Director of Polytech Operations and collaborates extensively with internal and external partners to ensure that the university provides programs and services that meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and industry.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree (Conferred on an official transcript at time of application). Experience: Minimum of one year of professional experience in software engineering or a closely related field. Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform duties and responsibilities described above: Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and orchestrate recruitment-related activities. Ability to organize work and create internal processes to support performance outcomes. Ability to learn and retain a wide range of institutional information. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrated ability to handle and process sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and external parties.

Preferred Qualification: Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. B.S. in software engineering, computer science, or a closely related field. Three or more years of professional experience in software engineering and/or technical project management. Demonstrated ability to establish professional relationships (for instance with industry partners, college administrators, faculty, and students). Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential industry/employer partners. Strong interpersonal skills (including written and oral communication). Strong organizational and record-keeping skills (including using spreadsheets and/or database technology). Other Requirements: Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
