Mktg & Comms Specialist
Job Summary
The College of Nursing (CON) is looking for a Marketing and
Communications Specialist to help manage the webpages that
represent the college and share our purpose and story with the
audiences who matter most to us. This includes audiences from
prospective students exploring our programs to the community
engaging with us on social media. Reporting directly to the CON
marketing and communications manager and working closely with the
Health Sciences webmasters, this person plays a key role in our web
and social media strategy, with responsibilities split roughly 60%
website and 40% social media.
This role offers a genuine opportunity to collaborate with
professionals across University of Utah Health Marketing and
Communications, including professionals in digital marketing,
social media, public relations, and more. It's a chance to grow a
diverse skill set while making a real impact for the CON, using
tools like Drupal, Adobe Creative Suite, Marq, Canva, and Sprout
Social along the way. This specialist also writes and edits content
across a variety of platforms, including social media copy, blog
posts, and ad copy, helping bring the CON's voice to life wherever
our audiences are reading. They also occasionally photograph or
assist at events that feed our content strategy and work directly
with the marketing and communications manager to produce
Insights, the CON's annual magazine.
We're looking for someone who is comfortable in front of the camera
and behind it, savvy with social media, and understands what makes
a good digital experience. Beyond that, we're looking for a
collaborative, curious, and adaptable person who is willing to
learn new marketing and communications skills, tools, and
tactics.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the point person for updates to the College of Nursing
website using the content management system Drupal.
Edit, develop, and implement content for webpages, working
under the supervision of the marketing and communications manager
and in coordination with area webmasters.
Follow WCAG, SEO, and U of U Health best practices in all web
content work.
Draft, manage, create, and reply to content for the CON's
social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,
and X.
Write and edit social media captions, ensuring consistency in
messaging and applying best practices to maximize engagement.
Create photography and video content for social media,
collaborating with other photographers and videographers within U
of U Health as needed.
Utilize design and content creation resources such as Adobe
Creative Suite, Marq, and Canva to support content
development.
Assist in building, launching, and refining paid social media
ad campaigns.
Collaborate with social media professionals across U of U
Health.
Utilize Sprout Social for scheduling, monitoring, and reporting
on social media activity.
Contribute to social media strategy development, audience
engagement, and brand consistency across digital platforms, working
closely with the marketing and communications manager.
Assist in developing best practices and applying strategy for
the website and social media platforms, in collaboration with the
Health Sciences webmasters and the marketing and communications
manager.
Help photograph and/or assist at occasional evening and weekend
events related to the CON's social media and website content
strategy.
Work directly with the marketing and communications manager to
help produce Insights, the CON's annual magazine.
Collaborate with professionals across U of U Health, gaining
insights from experts in digital marketing, communications, web
development, and social media strategy.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education
can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience
(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work
experience).

levels:
Marketing Communication Specialist, I: Requires a
bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work
experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

Full Time or Part Time? Full Time
Work Schedule Summary: This is a HYBRID position and will
work at the College of Nursing ON CAMPUS, at the Marketing &
Communications office in DOWNTOWN SALT LAKE, and VIRTUALLY, with
schedules approved by the supervisor. Occasional EVENING work
(approximately six times per year) and WEEKEND work (approximately
two times per year) is required to support events related to the
CON's social media and website content strategy
