Transfer Specialist
Classification: MnSCU Academic Professional 1 [Unlimited, Full-time] 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)

Salary Range: Hourly from $23.63 to $34.18; Annually from $49,339 to $71,368
*Salary placement is dependent on education and experience*

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
The purpose of this position is to serve as an authority on transfer and administer all aspects of the evaluation and acceptance of transfer of credits for new, readmitted, and current students, in accordance with state and federal laws, and Minn State and Normandale Community College policies and procedures. Adhering to the mission and vision of the college, the transfer specialist will apply comprehensive knowledge and engage in innovative thinking to assist in the strategic planning process and enable Normandale Community College to meet its goals and objectives for students, internal and external constituencies, and the larger community. This position collaborates on the management of the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) and utilizes transfer software (uAchieve) to encode transfer evaluation, course equivalencies, and college program, degree, and graduation requirements. This position will advise prospective and current transfer students on the evaluation and application of transfer credits, ensuring they understand how their previously earned coursework aligns with Normandale’s degree requirements.
This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including achieving equity in educational outcomes and supporting a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
2 1/2 years’ experience in student affairs or student services (e.g. transfer, advising, or records and registration offices). A liberal arts associate’s or baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for 6 months experience.
Understanding of transfer student processes, academic program requirements, curriculum, common course outlines, syllabi, and other academic resources; and degree auditing.
Ability to create and meet deadlines, coordinate and manage competing priorities, keep confidentiality.
Experience applying quality customer service practices and principles by telephone or email or in one-on-one and group settings.
Experience with process improvement in order to evaluate current practices and recommend and implement innovative and creative solutions.
Language proficiency sufficient to research, interpret, apply and explain complex rules; to write procedures; introduce and recommend new policies.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds and with varied needs.
Preferred:
Liberal education baccalaureate degree from an accredited college university.
Three years experience as a transfer credit evaluator or academic advisor.
Knowledge of document imaging system(s) and workflow processes within a document imaging system.
Working knowledge of degree auditing software and transfer repositories, including inputting transfer information quickly and accurately into systems, researching course information to determine course equivalencies, verifying data accuracy, and identifying and correcting data entry errors.
Experience with database queries and reports.
Knowledge of state and federal regulatory laws such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Minnesota Governmental Data Privacy Act (MGDPA), and Minnesota State and college policies and procedures relating to admissions, enrollment and transfer.
Experience writing and/or revising transfer policy.
Project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform accurate calculations with the ability to calculate GPAs and formulas in the evaluation of transfer credit.
Ability to analyze and make recommendations to management for new or revised administrative and program practices and procedures for smooth and efficient office operation.
