MnSCU Academic Professional 3: Student Runway Coordinator
Job Description
The Student Runway for Academic Success Project Coordinator provides strategic leadership, development and coordination of the Student Runway for Academic Success program, designed for students with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD). The SRAS Coordinator will work collaboratively across the college and with an Advisory Committee and Learning Community Team to develop, implement and sustain the SRAS program including developing and getting approvals for the SRAS academic programs, developing a process for recruiting and admitting eligible students, collaboration with the Occupational Skills Program, identifying necessary quality services and supports for SRAS students, a process for admission and onboarding students into the SRAS program. The coordinator will utilize and fulfill all of the requirements of the initial Office of Higher Education (OHE) Inclusive Higher Education Grant funding. The SRAS Coordinator will develop a plan for sustainability to include differential tuition, fees and additional grant funding.
Salary Range
$28.26-$41.43/hr, $59,007-86,506 annually
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of relevant work experience in a related field such as rehabilitation counseling, education, disability studies, higher education, psychology, human services, social work. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience and an associate’s degree may substitute for six (6) months. Demonstrated experience working with students with and providing services to individuals with disabilities. Understanding of accommodations for individuals with document disabilities. Knowledge of laws and bylaws that govern disability services such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Association of Higher Education and Disabilities (AHEAD). Knowledge of adaptive computer technology and its appropriateness for students with disabilities. Ability to work independently. Ability to travel independently on behalf of the college. Demonstrated success in fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal. Demonstrated initiative and experience in project development. Excellent administrative skills including ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience working with and knowledge of community resources whose services provide support of basic needs to individuals and families.
Preferred Qualification
Master’s degree in a related field such as rehabilitation counseling, education, disability studies, higher education, psychology, human services, social work. Three (3) years’ experience working with and providing services to individuals with disabilities, especially in a higher education setting. Ability to advocate for student needs and disseminate information regarding services at the community college and within the community. Willingness to work with students who may become challenging. Effective organizational skills to coordinate academic accommodations, track student demographics and produce annual reports. Familiarity with community resources that assist students with disabilities to attend college. Experience with program development and assessment. Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution. Knowledge of Minnesota State system policies and procedures.
