Modelling reactive two-phase flow in porous media

PhD/Postdoctoral Position in Reactive Multiphase Flow and CO₂ Mineralization for Direct Air Capture:

The Subsurface Reservoir flow group in Tel Aviv University led by Prof. Avinoam Rabinovich is opening a fully funded PhD or Postdoc position in the field of multiphase flow in porous media. The research project focuses on physics-based modeling of direct air capture of atmospheric CO2 through enhanced oxide mineral weathering. The work will consist of numerical modeling of reactive air-water flow and comparison to experimental data, with the goal of characterizing the optimal conditions for CO2 capture.

The project is a collaboration with Prof. Shaina Kelly and Prof. Peter Kelemen from Columbia University and the winning candidate has the possibility of spending extended research periods in the United States at the collaborating lab.

Candidates should have earned a bachelor's and master's degree in a relevant field (petroleum engineering, geoscience, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, etc.) from a reputable university. Candidate must have background in geochemistry. Previous research on reactive flow in porous media is a plus. Publications in reputable peer reviewed journals are an advantage. To apply please send a CV with a list of publications.
