Position Summary
Instruct the Basic Rider Education Course as mandated by the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program. Instructor, the classroom portion of the training prepares students for both the DMV written test and the riding skills portion. Teaching a motorcycle safety course is physically demanding. It requires long hours, standing for extended periods, walking approximately 5 miles in a day, Continuous bending and stooping to place cones, and sometimes pushing inoperable motorcycles for distances up to ¼…

Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate different learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
- Actively engage students and provide prompt, objective, respectful, and effective feedback.
- Communicate and follow the course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the Colleges support services to identify and address the students academic support needs.
- Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the Colleges learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
- Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
- When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and that equipment is in safe operating order.
- Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.
Required Education/Experience
- 2 years of experience.
- NC Motorcycle Safety Education Instructor Certification.
- Licensed, experienced motorcycle operator with a minimum of 3 years of riding experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 21 years of age minimum.
- Driving record with no more than 3 moving violations, no alcohol related traffic violations, and no driver's license suspension, revocation, or denial within the three years preceding the date of application to become a coach.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Previous Rider coach experience in a community college setting.
