very successful in computer vision tasks such as pattern recognition. We already have very appealing results for the classification of individual topological charges and superpositions in spatial beams with orbital angular momentum (OAM). We offer hosting at the Optical Communications Laboratory led by Prof. Jaime Anguita for candidates applying to an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship who are willing to contribute to our group research.
Aims of the Hosting
The main aims of the hosting should be to:
- Help conduct experiments of OAM transmission and detection over our 1km link.
- Contribute to the development of a new 3km link.
- Collaborate to create new deep learning architectures for energy-efficient classification of intensity patterns related to integer and fractional topological charge and exceed classical detection methods.

Application criteria
The successful candidate should have:
- Good knowledge of Optics.
- Proven experience in programming.
- Machine learning knowledge.
Desirable, but not a requirement:
- Practical experience working in an optics laboratory.
- Experience with spatial light modulators (SLMs) and adaptive optics.
- Python, Julia, and/or Matlab proficiency, with deep learning frameworks such as tensorflow, pytorch, etc.
