Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for a Multimedia Manager.

About the Role

The Multimedia Manager is a creative and strategic leader responsible for collaborating with internal partners and external stakeholders to leverage multimedia platforms to meet the university’s strategic goals. Reporting to the Director of Digital and Web Strategies, this position strengthens and promotes the university’s brand, enhancing visibility and engaging target audiences through high-quality, relevant content (primarily video and photography) designed for various marketing channels (e.g., web, digital communications, and social media) and distributed in a strategic and integrated manner.

  • Own the full lifecycle of multimedia projects from planning and storyboarding to production, editing, publishing, and post-analysis.
  • Lead the creative development of engaging video content that aligns with institutional priorities, elevates the university’s brand, and resonates with target audiences across multiple platforms (web, digital campaigns, social media, etc.).
  • Serve as the university’s lead video producer and editor including scriptwriting, interview coordination, voiceovers, effects, music, and final cut delivery.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, prioritizing Enrollment Management and Institutional Advancement, to identify video needs, define scope and timeline, and ensure message clarity and visual cohesion.
  • Maintain and organize the video and multimedia archive, including backup strategies in coordination with Information Technology.
  • Consult with departments across campus on multimedia opportunities, balancing demand with strategic priorities and available resources.
  • Support the Director of Digital and Web Strategies to ensure the university website and other online resources are engaging and up-to-date with current content.
  • Attend key on- and off-campus events to capture footage and develop multimedia content that supports marketing strategy.

Position Qualifications

Successful applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in multimedia strategy, production, and content planning.
  • Experience collaborating with a high-performing Marketing and Communications team, informing and developing the areas of branding, marketing, messaging, and storytelling.
  • Expertise in video production tools and techniques (e.g., DSLRs, lighting, sound, etc.) and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and other software/content management systems.
  • Strong writing, interviewing, storytelling, and content development skills, with the ability to conduct research and produce compelling written and multimedia content.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects independently from concept to completion, including scoping, scheduling, execution, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proven abilities to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing priorities and maintaining attention to detail and brand alignment.
  • Skilled at meeting tight deadlines and working effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to lift and transport multimedia equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, business, or related field.
  • Experience working with graphic design software/tools such as InDesign and Illustrator to create print, email, and web templates, as well as infographics, slide decks, and other related support materials.
  • Experience managing social media for an organization.
  • Working knowledge of Slate or comparable CRM platform(s).
