About This Opportunity

This is a call for applicants for Casual academics in the School of Political Science and International Studies in support of our course offerings in Semester 1 2026.

Casual academics will typically be engaged in a range of duties, including (but not limited to) tutoring; marking; teaching and moderating/facilitating. Casual academics are remunerated according to the category of their duties, as detailed in UQ’s Enterprise Agreement.

Please click herefor a list of POLS courses, plus one PPES course which are likely to need tutors. Please indicate a maximum of six courses you are interested in teaching into. Although you will be asked to state why you have picked a course your response is optional.

NB: Tutoring opportunities are reliant on course enrolment numbers and some courses at postgraduate level may not attract sufficient enrolments to require a tutor.

What We Can Offer

These are casual appointments. As such, there is no firm advance commitment to ongoing or indefinite work. The casual rate will vary as per the work completed. Please click here to view our various casual academic pay scales. The standard hourly pay rate is currently $55.36 per hour ($65.48 for PhD-qualified).
