The School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is a leading research institution in Statistics, Finance & Economics, and Management Sciences in China. The School of Statistics and Management at SUFE focuses on various research areas, including Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Econometrics, Optimization, and Probability, among others. The School boasts 53 faculty members, including 27 tenure-track and 3 research-track positions. We invite applications from candidates whose work aligns with and enhances our existing focus areas.

Open Positions

The School of Statistics and Management at SUFE is seeking candidates for multiple open rank positions (tenure-track or research-track) in Statistics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, Operations Research, and Risk Management. Joint appointments are available with the Institute of Data Science and Statistics, co-established by SUFE and China’s National Bureau of Statistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

1. Engage in both independent and collaborative research projects, producing high-quality research.
2. Provide high-quality teaching in graduate and undergraduate programs.
3. Offer statistical consulting services.
4. Contribute to the development of the School of Statistics and Management at SUFE.

Qualifications and Requirements

1. Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Management Science, Mathematics, or a related field by July 2025.
2. Demonstrated research abilities or clear potential.
3. Experience or interest in teaching Statistics, Data Science, Computation, Economics, Management Science, Probability, and related courses at all levels.
4. Excellent spoken and written English skills.

Salary and Benefits

The salary is internationally competitive, based on appointment level and experience. Additional benefits include a moving and housing allowance and a startup fund, depending on position and experience.
