"Multiple Tenure-Track Faculty Positions- Civil and Environmental Engineering"

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for five tenure-track faculty positions, preferably at the level of Assistant Professor, in the areas of: (1) Construction Engineering and Management; (2) Materials and Pavement Engineering; (3) Transportation and Traffic Engineering; (4) Environmental Engineering; and (5) Water Resources Engineering.  Applications for a visiting position in all ranks may also be considered.

The successful candidate must hold a Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and must demonstrate potential for quality research and teaching.  The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as part of the Civil Engineering curricula, and must demonstrate strong research potential that will lead to external funding and scholarly publications.  The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with faculty in the CEE, and across MSFEA and AUB.

The faculty candidates are expected to teach and conduct research in their conventional areas of specialties, with emphasis on current trends such as: sustainable design, materials, and construction; smart systems and technologies; “big” data analytics and AI; climate change mitigation; and critical civil infrastructure resilience and solutions.

Consideration of the received applications will begin as of December 15, 2025 and will continue until each position is filled. The proposed starting date for the positions is September 1, 2026. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
