- Full-time, fixed-term position until 31 July 2026
- Base salary will be in the range $91,658 - $98,330 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6)
- Based at our St Lucia location
About This Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Museum Registrar to support the accessibility and preservation of the Anthropology Museum’s collections. This role is central to maintaining our collection management systems, registering new acquisitions, and coordinating digitisation projects.
The Anthropology Museum holds a significant collection of contemporary Pacific and Australian Indigenous art and artefacts, as well as audio visual material and over 8,000 historical photographs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the stewardship of culturally important materials and support research, exhibitions, and community engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and update collection management system (CMS), including co-ordination and implementation of data enhancement projects
- Coordinate rights, permissions, and licensing, including consultation with source communities
- Supervise volunteers, students, and casual staff involved in registration and digitisation activities
- Support exhibitions and research, including preparation, installation, and assessment of acquisitions
- Maintain Museum web content and contribute to public programs and events

About You
You will bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience working with museum collections and digital systems. A background in museum studies, anthropology, or a related field is highly desirable, along with a commitment to ethical collection management and community consultation.
- Completion of a degree in anthropology, museum studies or a cognate field and at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience working with collection management systems, preferably KE EMu
- Demonstrated awareness of cultural protocols around ethnographic museum collections
- Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work accurately
