The programme supports research into musical historiography, aesthetics, reception, and everyday cultural practices. Doctoral candidates analyse how individuals and groups engage with music, dance, film, fashion, symbols, styles, and consumption in changing social contexts. By situating cultural phenomena within broader historical and societal frameworks, students contribute original knowledge about identity formation, community, globalisation, mediatisation, and contemporary cultural life.

• A person meets the general entry requirements if he or she has been awarded a second-cycle qualification, or has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle.
