Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is inviting applicants for a full-time Neonatologist position in the Division of Neonatology at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor rank at a tenure/non-tenure accruing level—our Clinical Neonatology Program staffs 3 area Level 1 through Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Units. UF Health has a Level 1 newborn nursery at UF Health North Hospital; a Level 2 NICU (10 beds) at UF St. Jones in St. Augustine, FL, and a Level 3 NICU (45 beds) at UF Health in downtown Jacksonville. We have an active delivery center at UF Health, with approximately 3,000 deliveries per year. The clinical assignment will be exclusively or predominantly in our Level 3 unit, which admits 700 neonates per year. Infants are transferred from Level 1 and 2 newborn nurseries across the region. We also receive neonates from Southeastern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. We are active participants in the Vermont-Oxford Network and the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative. The primary responsibilities of this position include patient care and teaching.
We will review applications from any board-certified or board-eligible neonatologist. We are seeking a diverse range of applicants, including new graduates from fellowship training, candidates with an established record of quality improvement and/or clinical outcomes research, and those who have mentored the academic growth of junior faculty, residents, and advanced practice providers.
This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Neonatology and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville.
- Provide clinical critical care to neonates and newborns at the three hospitals staffed by our division of neonatology, as assigned by the Chief, Division of Neonatology, and/or designee.
- Teach and supervise the care of pediatric residents and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics as required by the Chief, Division of Neonatology, and/or designee as required.
- Participate in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions, and institutional committees as requested.
- Develop new and support ongoing divisional academic activities for the purpose of advancing the careers of junior faculty.
