Network Administrator I
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation of network hardware infrastructure to ensure reliable daily operations. This role assists with troubleshooting, monitoring, testing, and implementing network solutions while gaining experience with emerging infrastructure technologies and best practices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements
- Assists with the implementation, maintenance, and support of the Tarrant County College District (TCCD) network infrastructure across campuses, remote sites, disaster recovery environments, and cloud-based systems
- Monitors network performance and supports troubleshooting efforts using remote management and monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Center, Paessler Router Traffic Grapher (PRTG))
- Supports the configuration, testing, maintenance, and documentation of network devices and technologies, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP systems, related network management platforms
- Collaborates with network administrators, security personnel, system administrators, and third-party vendors to support network operations, upgrades, and implementation activities
- Assists with IP addressing, subnetting, and DHCP scope configuration to support network connectivity and operational needs
- Ensures network installations comply with established wiring standards, safety requirements, and building codes while maintaining accurate infrastructure documentation
- Participates in campus and remote site field surveys and supports the integration of operational and network technologies in coordination with internal departments
- Travels to TCCD campuses, facilities, and affiliated locations as needed to support network infrastructure operations and projects
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
