Job Description
TAMU-CC is a dynamic university designated as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) with approximately 11,000 students from 47 states and 54 foreign nations. We employ over 1,400 full-time and 2,000 part-time Islanders (including students/GAs). The University attracts highly talented faculty and staff and offers an array of undergraduate and graduate degrees, including doctoral programs.
PURPOSE
The Network Engineers at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are key members of the Information Technology Department, within the Division of Infrastructure & Research Computing, responsible for the effective design, provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of network systems throughout their lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer Campus Enterprise Network - 50%
- Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance of campus network infrastructure, including Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Data Center environments.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of network security measures.
- Continuously monitor network performance, analyze system alerts, and troubleshoot issues.
- Engage with vendors to address and resolve network vulnerabilities.
Network Design - 25%
- Assist in the design and implementation of network solutions for complex projects.
- Participate in the review and analysis of network design plans.
Strategic Planning and Documentation - 20%
- Conduct research on emerging technologies to identify opportunities for automating processes, enhancing efficiencies, and improving network security.
- Develop and maintain documentation such as designs, plans, maps, methods, and procedures.
Other - 5%
- Be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Three years of related experience.
- Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional-level certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CWNA, ITIL.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, telephony, Cisco ACI, ISE, ASA, Firepower, and DNAC.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure environments, particularly Azure.
- Experience in the higher education sector.
