Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of seven stations.
Position Summary: North Carolina Public Radio – WUNC is hiring an intern as a news reporter. The position is paid, and will be under the supervision of our Daily News Editor. This internship will be for the Fall with possibilities to extend to the Spring. The news intern will be responsible for writing and producing audio and digital stories for our daily broadcast newscasts as well as online platforms. They will have opportunities to complete feature stories, as time allows. They may also perform administrative tasks or duties as assigned. Interns are asked to dedicate one or two days a week during regular business hours preferred (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM). This is a paid internship for one or two days a week during regular business hours. The position is responsible for writing and producing audio and digital stories for our daily broadcast newscasts and online platforms.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency and completion of a two-year technical school program in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Currently enrolled students or recent graduates.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Journalism and radio experience preferred. This position is open to currently enrolled students and recent graduates.
