Pay: Commensurate with experience
Work Schedule: 40 hours Monday – Friday, day shift; evenings and weekends may be required as needed.
Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.
Job Summary
Conducts and assists with structural teardown activities, including airframe disassembly and chemical coatings removal.
Essential Functions
- Performs airframe structural disassembly and coating removal.
- Removes common aircraft fasteners and paint/premier systems.
- Ensures proper accomplishment of daily activities including quality control, process implementation and project performance. May supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students to ensure satisfactory completion of research projects. Establishes, updates, and reviews laboratory procedures according to appropriate standards and/or requirements. Provides training to staff as needed to ensure proper process implementation
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with aircraft structure, fasteners, and common hand tools
- Ability to perform research in a laboratory setting
- Ability to operate engineering laboratory equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in related field or Airframe certification
- Experience performing aircraft assembly/disassembly
- Experience performing procedures according to identified established standards and requirements
- Experience providing quality control within a research laboratory
- Experience with removal of common aircraft coating systems (paint/primer)
Physical Requirements
Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs. Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces. Ability to position self to maintain vehicles and equipment including under the vehicle or piece of equipment. Ability to inspect work, materials, equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/or determining factors. Ability to position self to move and/or transfer materials, mail, equipment and/or supplies. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
