The role
This post provides an excellent opportunity for a post-doctoral academic trainee in either Respiratory Medicine or Public Health to develop a successful academic career within a thriving and supportive environment. The lectureship programme will provide up to four years WTE post-doctoral training or until CCT is reached, to allow the successful applicant to consolidate their career, develop their skills and begin to establish themselves as an independent researcher and educator. The length of the lectureship will depend on the previous experience of the doctor in academic medicine and their planned trajectory toward a postdoctoral or clinician scientist award. The post is available either full time or part time.
What will you be doing?
The successful applicant will split their working week between clinical practice based at an appropriate Trust or public health approved training location in the South West (50:50) and at the University of Bristol, and will be appointed at the appropriate point on the relevant Clinical/Public Health Salary Scale.
You should apply if
The post is aimed at those who are advanced in their specialty training, have completed a research doctorate (MD/PhD) or equivalent in a relevant field and show outstanding potential for continuing a career in academic medicine. Specifically:
- Clinical Lectureship posts are only available to medically qualified candidates, registered with the GMC.
- The applicant will have completed core training and/or otherwise be eligible for higher specialist training in the relevant specialty in the UK at ST3 level or above.
- Applications must hold a current National Training Number (NTN). If a number is not held the candidate would need to clinically benchmark to be able to take up the post.
- Applicants should have completed, or at least submitted, a higher degree by research by the time of applying for the post (PhD or MD or equivalent), which must have been awarded by the time of taking up the post.

Contract type: FTC - Annually renewable for 4 years or until CCT (whichever occurs first)
Shift pattern: 40 hours per week
