Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CNA Instructor will work collaboratively with the lead CNA instructor/coordinator and teach the Certified Nursing Assistant Program for CCAPE at Cape Cod Community College. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and experienced educator, committed to preparing students to excel in the healthcare field, specifically in certified nursing. The position involves providing classroom and/or clinical instruction, coordinating student placements, and ensuring compliance with Massachusetts regulations for CNA training.
Please note that the position is subject to enrollment; a minimum number of students is required to run an additional cohort of CNA students.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Deliver/teach classroom and clinical instruction for the CNA program in accordance with state regulations and program standards.
- Regularly meets and advises students related to this program.
- Participation at program information sessions (if applicable).
- Coordinates with lead CNA instructor/coordinator to maintain clinical placements for students, ensuring alignment with healthcare facilities' requirements and state certification guidelines.
- Maintains a positive relationship with clinical sites.
- Follow CNA program curricula, including assistance (if applicable) with updating course materials to reflect industry standards and regulatory changes.
- Maintain and submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all required documentation and reports per established procedures.
- Assist with required documents, forms and reporting for grant-funders.
- Ensure compliance with state requirements for CNA training, certification, and programmatic standards.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student success in healthcare careers.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a registered nurse with current Massachusetts licensure with at least two years' nursing experience, one of which must have been in a level II or level III long-term care facility.
- Be able to effectively train students as demonstrated by:
- At least one year's experience in lesson planning, development of instructional materials, lesson delivery, student evaluation, and remediation in a health care role as an in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel instructor.
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse group of students.
- Commitment to promoting high standards of care and professional ethics in nursing education.
- Knowledge of local health and business communities and potential employment market for CNA graduates.
- Ability to work flexible hours and manage multiple priorities.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a supervisory role, particularly within healthcare education or clinical settings.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts state requirements and standards for CNA training programs.
- Experience coordinating student clinical placements and managing relationships with healthcare facilities.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Education, or a related field.
- Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese, or Haitian Creole.
- No verified history of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation in Massachusetts facilities or programs pursuant to MGL Chapter 111, §§ 72F-72L.
- No allegations of Medicare or Medicaid fraud.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $65 per hour, dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience and field experience. Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, project-based/contract position. Non-benefited, non-unit position.
