Nurse Manager - Pediatrics
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a Nurse Manager - Pediatrics is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Our Nurse Managers serve as a Department Head who supervises, coordinates, and directs the 24 hour daily operation of a unit(s) and the staff. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a Nurse Manager - Pediatrics may include the following but are not limited to:
- Provides a cost effective, safe, therapeutic and aesthetically pleasing environment reflecting the Stony Brook Children's Hospital and Medical Center's Mission, Vision and Values.
- Sets budget/staffing needs based on patient acuity and nurse level of practice.
- Works in concert with Clinical Nurse Specialist and clinical team members to enforce unit specific quality and patient safety programs. Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing services administration, and the delivery of services.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the strategic plan of the organization, division, and units/area of responsibility.
- Acts as unit representative for initiatives related to the Hospital's strategic plan.
- Monitors, evaluates and improves patient and staff satisfaction.
- Contributes to the education and professional advancement of staff and students.
- Maintains and develops professional competency in nursing, areas of clinical specialization and health care policy.
- Optimizes fiscal resource allocation to support current and potential objectives and initiatives for the unit.
- Interviews and recommends staff and selected recruits to the unit and division of nursing staff.
- Assures that nursing staff are consistently in compliance with the Division's policies on certification and annual recertification/credentialing.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current NYS RN License.
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field or current enrollment in a Master's program.
- Minimum five years post-licensure nursing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Minimum two years management/supervisory experience.
- Minimum three years Pediatric nursing experience.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively and across service lines.
Preferred:
- Certification in specialty.
- Regulatory/certification management experience.

Anticipated Pay Range: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $124185 - $177059 / year.
