JOB TITLE:
Nurse Practitioner
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide patient services, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at the Albany Community Health Clinic located in Laramie, Wyoming.
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming's Employee Handbook. Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closures based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain detailed patient histories and conduct physical examinations, coordinate consultations and hospitalizations.
- Determine possible diagnoses; order and perform laboratory, radiological and special examinations or tests required for evaluation of illnesses; prescribe medication as appropriate; integrate clinical data, plan subsequent diagnostic measures, and manage therapeutic measures according to established guidelines.
- Advise patients on health, preventative care, diet, and diseases; confer with social and other services providing care after discharge and for outpatient services; provide advice to family members, as necessary.
- Perform minor outpatient surgical procedures.
- Provide routine follow-up care including appropriate adjustment of medications; complete and maintain accurate patient records.
- Plan appropriate intervention management.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide guidance to pharmacy, lab staff, x-ray staff, nursing staff, and precept Nurse Practitioner students on accepted procedures.
- Contribute to internal clinical studies as applicable.
- Participate as member and/or chairperson on department committees, as applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in Nursing
Experience: 1-3 years nurse practitioner experience preferred
Required licensure, certification, registration, or other requirements:
- Valid State of Wyoming authorization as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Prescriptive authority in the State of Wyoming.
- National certification in degree specialty.
- DEA registry license is required
- Valid BLS certification (basic life support)
- Valid CPR certification (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- FQHC experience/interest
- Healthcare education experience/interest
- Quality Improvement experience/interest
- MOUD experience/interest
- Teaching/precepting experience interest

WORK LOCATION:
On-campus: This position provides vital support to clinic patients, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions at the Albany Community Health Clinic, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States, as sponsorship for any work authorization or work visas is not available for this position.
