Nurse Practitioner
Position Summary
Provides direct patient care services and performs medical acts as a nurse practitioner under the supervision of the Clinical Director of the Endocrine and Diabetes Management Services at Michigan State University. The NP is responsible and accountable for the continuous and comprehensive management of patients to include: promotion and maintenance of health; diagnosing treating managing acute and chronic illnesses guidance and counseling for both individuals and families; prevention of illness and disability; prescribing, administering, and dispensing therapeutic measures, tests, procedures, and drugs; evaluating health outcomes planning for situations beyond the NP’s expertise, and consulting with and referring to other healthcare providers as appropriate.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work such as a master's degree in nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive clinical work experience in Endocrine / Diabetes Management; or an equivalent combination or education and experience; possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and/or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Desired Qualifications
Certified Diabetes Educator Experienced in CS II (Insulin Pumps): downloading, setting, adjustment and troubleshooting; experienced in CGMS (Glucose Sensors): starting sensors, downloading data, and analyzing reports. Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the State of Michigan.
