Nurse Practitioner
Position Summary
The Department of Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Internal Medicine. The position provides direct outpatient care services and performs medical acts under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Internal Medicine at Michigan State University. The selected candidate will work in the outpatient clinic and perform independently or as part of a treatment team. The candidate will help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations; provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests and prescribe medications; perform the important task of educating patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work such as a Masters in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area or a Master's Degree in Nursing; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan. Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the State of Michigan.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with electronic medical record; experience in an out-patient setting, working cohesively with large group of providers; experience with minor clinic procedures.
