Nurse Practitioner - PACC (ILD)

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) for the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) program will work with ILD physicians to support the management of ILD patients. The role includes both clinical and research responsibilities, and offers the potential for autonomy in managing patients with a diverse group of diseases. Given the complex nature of our patients, either an acute care NP or adult NP would be suited to the position.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to in and outpatients with ILD, including obtaining histories and performing physical exams
  • Develop a differential diagnosis and diagnostic impression based on objective and subjective data
  • Document findings and all patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Monitor patients who are on therapy and assessing patients' responses to treatment and intervention
  • Write orders and prescriptions
  • Obtain prior authorizations (as needed) for specialized medications
  • Counsel/instruct patients and their families
  • Render appropriate care in the setting of an urgent patient matter, if a physician is unavailable
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Research Responsibilities

  • Obtain informed consent for clinical trials
  • Complete research related safety and monitoring visits
  • Manage blood specimens
  • Document research study visits
  • Assist in data management for research protocols
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Master’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Current New York State NP (or proof of application) and RN license
  • Board certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the care of patients with pulmonary disease

Other Requirements

  • Participation in the medical surveillance program required
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Wear N-95 respirator
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
