Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, COM, Department of Surgery, Division of Oral & Maxillofacial

The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join an active group dedicated to supporting the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in all activities. The APP will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. Facilitate the delivery of care for inpatient and outpatient situations and perform independently or as part of a treatment team.
Estimated clinical efforts will include nine 4-hour outpatient clinics each week. This position will be an oral & maxillofacial focused position. The clinics’ sessions will primarily be at Holmes Hospital. This APP will assist the division with the influx of new patients and determine if additional patient care or procedures needed from subspecialist of oral and maxillofacial surgery. This APP may also be expected to participate in teaching activities for our students, residents and fellows.
Essential Functions
- Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
- Participate in research and development projects.

Minimum Requirements
Nurse Practitioner:
- Required Education: Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Required Trainings/Certifications: Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority. Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
- Required Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience. Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.

Physician Assistant:
- Required Education: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Required Trainings/Certifications: Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Required Experience: Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
