Job Details

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who will responsible for providing high-quality, effective patient care through the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. In addition to providing direct patient care with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventative measures, the nurse practitioner shares responsibility for the provision of high-quality health care in compliance with state, federal, and ambulatory accreditation requirements.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Deliver care that is culturally competent, affirming of a wide range of student/learner identities, and promotes the diversity, equity, and inclusion values of the Student Health and Well-Being practice.
Use evidence-based clinical and theoretical knowledge to identify acute and/or chronic health problems through a comprehensive, age-appropriate assessment of patients using skills in taking medical histories, screening, physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, and prescribing appropriate medications and treatments.
Educate patients with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventative measures.
Provide continuity of care and coordination of available healthcare services using appropriate referral to agencies and specialists as indicated.
Assume responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to meet patient, staff and departmental needs.
Assume responsibility and accountability for own patient care decisions. On a regular and continuous basis, exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results that impact people, costs, and/or the quality of service within the functional area.
Participate in peer chart reviews and pass periodic laboratory proficiency testing and quality control reviews.
Systematically record information in an electronic medical record in accordance with state and federal medical/legal requirements.
Comply with state, federal, and ambulatory accreditation requirements and policies within SHWB.
Attend SHWB meetings and educational opportunities and show evidence of continued self-development and professional involvement by participating in activities and educational programs of professional organizations.
Participate in Student Health & Well-Being Primary Care Committees.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate should have experience working with diverse patient populations and appreciate and relate effectively to individuals who hold multiple, intersecting identities including but not limited to: historically marginalized and under-represented populations, various ages and developmental status, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, international status, disability, gender and sexual identities and presentations.
Demonstrated competence in young adult health, public health, or college health.
Philosophical commitment to the care, development, and education of students and trainees.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and facility in emails is required.
Knowledge of Excel helpful.
Must successfully complete all required and ongoing electronic medical records training as directed.
Must complete all required HIPAA and any other specified online training courses deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
Additional experience may substitute for master's degree, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Two to Four years of experience as a nurse practitioner in adolescent/young adult health, public health, or college health.
Certified nurse practitioner licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the State of Maryland and Washington, DC.
Active or eligible for DEA, and Controlled Dangerous Substances registrations.
Successful credentialing and privileging through Johns Hopkins Hospital and SHWB.

Starting Salary Range: $112,572 - $152,900 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)
