Position Summary
The Nurse Supervisor provides high-level clinical leadership and administrative oversight for back-office nursing staff. This role is pivotal in co-managing a diverse clinical team that supports specialized clinicians across seven clinic locations. The focus is on optimizing workflows, ensuring clinical excellence in endocrine and metabolic weight management care, and bridging the gap between patient visits.
We are seeking an RN with leadership skills and experience in endocrinology or chronic disease management who is ready to transition their clinical expertise into a strategic oversight focusing on the patient population across all 7 sites with Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Lipid Research @ WashU.
Position provides day-to-day/frontline supervision, coordination, and assignment functions for patient care staff and patient treatment.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Co-supervises the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of the back-office team, fostering a culture of high performance and empathy.
- Coordinates patient services with physicians and staff to provide quality care in effective manner, conducting rounds to ensure quality of patient care delivery.
- Facilitates educational opportunities and quality improvement activities for staff to ensure compliance with medical school and regulatory guidelines.
- Assigns/coordinates activities and duties of staff, orienting new staff and advising administration of conditions and performance issues.
- Provides direct patient care as needed, including triaging patient questions in MyChart and phone calls, administering injections, management of diabetes technology, and maintaining records in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Promotes/maintains excellent customer services with patients and families, acting as liaison between patients and the WashU team.
- Provides appropriate counsel to patients/families explaining medications, procedures and teaches care to ensure continuity of care and promote health care maintenance.
- Analyzes back-office workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce patient wait times, and improve the overall clinician-support experience.
- Acts as subject matter expert for endocrine and weight management clinical protocols, ensuring that patient care if safe, timely, and aligned with WashU Medicine standards.

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, plus a minimum of 2 years of related nursing experience.
- Current LPN or RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

$71,300.00 - $128,400.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
