Nursing Assistant - GWVNH
Job Summary
Performs nursing care and treatment for geriatric residents. Assist residents with activities of daily living. Monitor residents and reporting changes to the Charge Nurse or Supervisor as needed. Work is performed with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative within the scope of practice for the Certified Nursing Assistant.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
RESIDENT CARE: Provides care for assigned residents and request assistance when necessary.
ASSIST WITH ADL'S: Assists residents with ADL's such as bathing, shaving, oral care, styling hair and dressing; Distributes meal trays and assists residents in consuming meals; Empties urinals and drainage collection bags; Records I&O as instructed; Collects routine specimens.
RESIDENT MONITORING: Monitor resident weight utilizing standing lift and wheelchair scales; Monitors vital as ordered; Document all care provided on correct form and report any changes in residents condition promptly to the Charge Nurse.
RESIDENT TRANSFER: Assist residents in transferring to and from bed, chair, commode or stretcher utilizing safe transfer techniques and equipment, such as Hoyer lifts, transfer boards and gait belts.
RESIDENT MAINTENANCE PLAN: Observe for proper circulation as necessary; Perform range of motion and ambulate residents as indicated in the plan of care; Maintain functional maintenance plan as instructed.
ROOM AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: Maintains resident rooms, makes beds, cleans bedside tables, closets, etc. daily; Maintains resident's equipment; Rinses soiled clothing as necessary and stores in plastic bags for laundry pickup; Puts up clothes upon return from laundry.
RESIDENT ASSISTANCE: Escorts residents to and from areas of the facility and hospitals as assigned; Remains with residents as instructed and assists in all areas of care, if needed during routine clinic visits.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization; Must possess current Nursing Assistant certification (in good standing) for the state of Georgia; Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant. Experience in care of the physically ill, preferably in a geriatric or long-term care setting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledgeable in providing customer service at a level above average.
Perform a range of motion and ambulate residents as indicated per plan of care. Document all care and treatments provided as indicated.
Basic knowledge of human anatomy and strong nursing assistant skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detailed-oriented with strong telephone etiquette, organizational, customer service and multi-taking skills.
Must possess current nursing assistant/aide certification (in good standing) from the Georgia Health Partnership Registry
ABILITIES
Ability to perform vital signs and recognize what is with normal range.
Ability to perform simple treatments, assess pain, obtain weights and assist with ADL;s as needed. Assist residents with transfers using mechanical lifts when indicated.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to perform basic tests including vital signs and weights
Certifications/License
Must possess current Nursing Assistant certification (in good standing) for the state of Georgia; Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Shift: Rotating
Pay Band: B3
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
