Nursing Clinical Adjunct
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESESS
Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Department of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and/or clinical experiences for students. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains academic standards as established by the nursing department and university.
- Teaches students in clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings as assigned.
- Participates in planning, organization, and deployment of courses as appropriate to assignment.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of course activities as appropriate to assignment.
- Participates in program and department activities associated with professional status.
- Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom and laboratory teaching.
- Maintains working knowledge of technology required to perform work.
- Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member:
- Utilizes teaching-learning principles appropriately;
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource person to students and community;
- Shares professional expertise at the local level.
- Responds to emails on a daily basis throughout the work week.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) for classroom instruction.
- For clinical instruction only: MSN or a Non-Nursing Masters degree with six graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to the assigned teaching responsibilities, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing and current enrollment in a graduate nursing program and a minimum of twelve graduate hours in nursing completed.
- Unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Texas or another interstate compact state.
- Current BLS certification.
- Records demonstrating up to date immunization or titers.
- Clinical experience required.
- Needs effective organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Generally, works in climate controlled environments, sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and/or pulling and reaching. Uses computer equipment. Requires manual dexterity and both hands to perform nursing functions. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
