Cornerstone University's School of Health, Science, and Technology invites applications for a full-time Clinical Coordinator in the Nursing Program. This position is a 9/10 month faculty appointment plus some summer work responsible for coordinating all aspects of clinical education, maintaining and developing clinical partnerships, and teaching in the nursing curriculum as appropriate beginning January 2027. Training could begin prior to this date.
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Salaried, Academic Rank eligible (Assistant or Associate Professor), and tenure-track eligible.
REPORTS TO: Dean of the School of Health, Science, and Technology.
LOCATION: Grand Rapids Campus
WORK HOURS: The clinical coordinator serves as nursing faculty and also a primary coordinator of clinical placements for Cornerstone nursing students as part of their curriculum. As such, this role requires some ongoing work during the summer academic break.

Key ResponsibilitiesA representative set of responsibilities includes:Clinical Placement & Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee all undergraduate nursing clinical placements and practicum experiences.
Serve as the primary liaison with clinical agencies, site coordinators, and preceptors. Regional travel may be expected. Ensure affiliation agreements and clinical contracts are current and compliant. - Compliance & Accreditation
- Maintain documentation required by regulatory and accrediting bodies related to clinical education (e.g., site approvals, student clearances, evaluations).
- Ensure compliance with agency requirements (health records, background checks, orientation, etc.).
- Student & Preceptor Support
- Orient students to clinical expectations, policies, and professional standards.
- Support and mentor clinical faculty and preceptors, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
- Address clinical concerns or issues in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
- Teach clinical and/or didactic nursing courses in areas of expertise (in-person and/or online).
- Participate in assessment and continuous improvement of clinical courses and experiences.
- Program & University Service
- Assist with recruitment of clinical sites, students, and adjunct/clinical faculty.
- Participate in departmental, school, and university committees and initiatives as assigned.
QualificationsRequired: - A minimum of a master's degree in nursing (MSN or equivalent)
- An unencumbered RN license in the state of Michigan
- Significant recent clinical practice experience in nursing
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, supervise, or precept nursing students or new nurses
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate nursing education.
Preferred: - Enrollment in or completion of a terminal degree (e.g., DNP, Ph. D. in Nursing or related field).
- Prior higher education teaching experience (classroom, lab, or clinical).
- Experience working with clinical partners, affiliate agreements, and accreditation requirements.
