Nursing & Health Sciences Summer Camp Director (Temporary)
Job Summary
The Nursing & Health Sciences Summer Camp Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of a summer healthcare-focused camp for high school students. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and academically enriching environment that introduces participants to careers in healthcare, medical science, and public health. The Director leads curriculum development, supervises staff, manages logistics, and ensures compliance with all institutional and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership: Design, implement, and oversee all camp activities, schedules, and instructional sessions.
- Curriculum Development: Develop hands-on, age-appropriate healthcare science lessons, labs, simulations, and career exploration activities.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and supervise instructors, counselors, and volunteers.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to institutional policies, FERPA and HIPAA-related boundaries, and all safety protocols, including laboratory safety standards.
- Student Engagement: Promote a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and intellectual curiosity.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate facilities, scheduling, and daily camp operations.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and community partners; provide updates and address concerns as needed.
- Budget Oversight: Monitor camp funds, track expenditures, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
- Emergency Preparedness: Maintain readiness for medical or behavioral emergencies and ensure staff are trained in appropriate response procedures.
