GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Nursing Lab Faculty Member and Coordinator provides instructional leadership and operational management of the College's Nursing laboratories. This position ensures the effective delivery of nursing laboratory courses, maintains a safe and innovative learning environment, and supports student learning through simulation, lab practice, and technology-enhanced instruction. The position balances teaching responsibilities with coordination duties in alignment with 37.5 hours weekly: teaching and student contact will account for 25.5 hours weekly; lab coordination, administration, and planning will account for 12 hours weekly. This is an in-person position Monday through Friday during the academic year.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Instructional and Faculty Responsibilities (25.5 hours, 70% of workload):

  1. Teach and facilitate nursing laboratory courses including, but not limited to, NUR107, NUR 108, NUR 201, and NUR 202.
  2. Coordinate and schedule instructional lab hours in alignment with nursing curriculum requirements.
  3. Maintain posted office hours, advise students academically, and provide individualized support for skill development.
  4. Participate in college, division, department, program, and course team meetings (weekly or biweekly).
  5. Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum collaboratively with faculty colleagues.
  6. Integrate simulation and hands-on learning into nursing courses such as NUR 107, NUR 108, NUR 201, and NUR 202 to enhance clinical reasoning and skill mastery.
  7. Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes at course, program, and institutional levels.
  8. Create and provide teaching resources via Moodle platform.
  9. Contribute to program accreditation preparation (ACEN, NECHE, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing).
  10. Utilize the End of Course Report (EOCR) entering data in collaboration with Nursing faculty.

Coordination and Administrative Responsibilities (12 hours, 30% of workload):

  1. Coordinate day-to-day operations of the nursing labs, ensuring a safe, functional, and effective learning environment.
  2. Develop semester lab schedules for Nursing in collaboration with the Director.
  3. Collaborate with Facilities and IT to ensure optimal functioning of lab spaces and simulation technology.
  4. Train faculty in the use and maintenance of lab and simulation equipment in collaboration with the Director.
  5. Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering, storage, maintenance, and disposal of materials/equipment for Nursing.
  6. Recommend and justify budgetary items to support the growth of the Nursing program through new technologies and resources.
  7. Submit purchase requisitions and prepare required expenditure reports.
  8. Maintain compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing regulations and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards.
  9. Facilitate open lab hours for student practice and coordinate schedules with other nursing faculty.
  10. Participate in systematic program evaluation and contribute to policy development and implementation of all components of the Nursing Program.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or eligibility for Massachusetts licensure.
  2. Master's degree in nursing from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution.
  3. Demonstrated experience using low-, moderate-, and high-fidelity simulation in nursing education or healthcare.
  4. Proven skill in integrating high-fidelity simulation into teaching and learning.
  5. Recent college-level teaching experience in nursing.
  6. Commitment to support a student-centered, outcome-based approach to education.
  7. Experience with the integration of technology as well as active and collaborative learning strategies in the teaching-learning process.
  8. Experience in the assessment of learning outcomes at the course, program, and college levels.
  9. Experience in development, implementation, and evaluation of program and college-related and/or healthcare policies.
  10. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
  2. Experience with nursing curriculum development and revision.
  3. Appreciation for and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
  4. Experience with the integration of both high and moderate fidelity human patient simulations in the teaching-learning process.
  5. Experience in NECHE, MA BORN and ACEN accreditation processes

Additional Information

COMPENSATION: Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC Unit position. Anticipated annual salary range of $85,195 - $102,600. Actual salary will be commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Position also includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program, including option to participate in the Massachusetts Employee State Retirement System.
