Nursing Simulation Lab Technician

The Nursing Simulation Lab Technician provides advanced level operation and maintenance of simulation teaching laboratory facilities and equipment. Responsible for providing technical support for simulation operations and technologies. Performs all procedures necessary to maintain a safe, uninterrupted work environment in accordance to departmental and national safety guidelines.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Prepares and maintains simulation laboratory facilities for teaching instruction.
- Provides technical leadership to staff, faculty, and/or student employees.
- Operates and maintains simulation equipment and technology, including patient simulators, Dr. Hologram equipment, Anatomage tables, medical equipment, and computer systems.
- Assists in the setup and breakdown of simulation sessions, including preparing simulation rooms, manikins, and other necessary equipment/supplies.
- Assists faculty facilitators by operating the simulation control room during sessions, manipulating vital signs, patient responses, and creating dynamic scenarios based on student actions.
- Prepares and maintains laboratory facilities for teaching instruction, Understands goals of lab simulation to assist instructors.
- Provides training on proper usage of laboratory equipment and safe laboratory practices including safe handling. Ensures compliance with safety regulations of science laboratories.
- Maintains clean laboratories facilities.
- Maintains accurate records of necessary lab equipment and supplies through inventory management system; replenishes as necessary.
- Assists in the development of laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Assists in the development of the annual operating budget.
- Oversees service and maintenance on all lab/simulation equipment.
Other Duties:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires a high school diploma and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Ability to obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist certification within 2 years of hire date.
- Experience working as an operating room technician.
- Recent full-time experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and database management software.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to adapt to changing educational needs, including evenings as needed (average of 1-2 days per week) and occasional weekend special events.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in a closely related field.
- Experience creating standard operating procedures, guidelines, and safety protocols.
- Experience training and leading the work of others.
- Experience in an operating room setting.
